Chepstow Quad Trekking Centre
Was founded in 1997 by brothers
Andrew & Ross Guest. At that time the family's main interest
was farming, with a 300- acre dairy farm including 120 cows
and 140 other cattle plus some arable cropping.
The business
was starting to suffer the effects of the general agricultural
recession and something needed to be done: so after much research
and deliberation, planning consent was sought and gained, 5
quad bikes were purchased and the new business was launched
in the July of that year.
This new activity immediately
attracted interest from local people in Monmouthshire and the
Forest of Dean, many of who did and still do return. With this
being a popular tourist area, people visiting on holiday also
felt that quad biking was something that they had to try before
they went home.
Encouraged by this success,
Ross and Andrew looked to expand the range of activities, and
relationships were formed with other activity providers
to be able to offer Archery, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Off Road
Driving. Also about this time NCT Management Development
expressed an interest in using the facilities to provide
Team Working and Personnel Development Workshops. These
have proved very popular, with a number of companies regularly
sending delegates for individually tailored courses. |
Chepstow Outdoor Activities Centre
In 2000 we saw the
introduction of the paintball enterprise and with this in mind
the name was changed to Chepstow Outdoor
Activity Centre to reflect
the broadening range of activities.
Paintball proved to be an
immediate hit with Stag and Hen parties, some choosing a "multi-activity" day.
In fact Paintball has become a huge success; not only is it
a fun energetic activity for adults to enjoy but it also attracts
those looking for the perfect team-building course.
The millennium also saw the opening of
our Coffee Shop, that provides a clubhouse atmosphere where
participants and spectators can recover and discuss the finer
points of their new- found skills.
Foot and Mouth Disease in 2001 had
a devastating effect on many rural businesses and
COAC suffered a huge drop in income due to enforced closure,
but we managed to pull through and we now look forward to brighter
prospects in the future.
Groups', National Police Training
Centre, corporates in the Food, Chemical and Paper industries,
Sports clubs, Works and Social clubs and many, many individuals
living locally and visiting on holiday who simply want
some fun!
In 2006 Andrew took full control
of the business from his brother Ross
and introduced a full time operations manager. The business became
VAT registered and with establishment of many new relationships
with other outdoor activity centres sees
an exciting year ahead |
